For Mark, motorsport is an extension of more than 35 years spent around performance and rotary-powered cars.
He doesn't just drive the car. He builds, diagnoses, develops, repairs and continually improves it.
What is learned at the track comes back into the Proworx workshop — and what is developed in the workshop gets tested on the track.

A VERY DIFFERENT ROAD TO THE STARTING GRID.
Amy's journey into circuit racing came much later.
What began as learning to build and race her own car has grown into something much bigger. Her black and gold RX-8 now sits at the heart of Built By Girl – The Power of Possibility, using a real race car and real experiences to show young people what can be possible when they're willing to learn, have a go and back themselves.
And behind that journey is Proworx Racing.

These aren't show cars.
Every part, every setup change and every modification has a purpose. Both Proworx Racing cars are continually developed through workshop experience, dyno testing and what is learned on the track.
Some changes bring more speed. Some improve reliability. Others come from discovering the hard way what doesn't work.
That's development. And it never really stops.

Racing is development — and development doesn't always go to plan.
For Mark, the Taupō Winter Series has become an important testing ground ahead of the GTRNZ season beginning in October. It's a chance to push the car, find weaknesses and fix them before they matter.
And it has found a few.
A wastegate tore away from the manifold — ironically, one of the few areas of the car that hadn't already been completely rebuilt. More recently, a fuel delivery issue brought another race weekend to an early end.
Frustrating? Absolutely.
But that's exactly why you test.
For Amy, some of the biggest lessons have come from decisions made from behind the wheel. A few wrong tyre calls in changing conditions have meant learning very quickly how to manage grip, changing track conditions and the car when the setup isn't ideal.
Some weekends give you results.
Some give you problems to solve.
Both move the team forward.

Built By Girl – The Power of Possibility grew from Amy's journey into motorsport, but behind that journey is the support, knowledge and experience of Proworx Racing.
Mark plays a huge role — not by simply fixing the car for Amy, but by teaching her how to fix it herself.
When something breaks, Mark helps diagnose the problem, explains what needs to happen and guides Amy through the repair. Under his supervision, she works on, repairs and continues to develop her own race car.
That support has given Amy something far more valuable than simply having someone who can fix a race car.
It has given her the confidence to believe she can do it herself.
And that is exactly the message she now takes into schools.
KEEPING THE CAR ON TRACK KEEPS THE STORY REAL.
The Built By Girl car isn't a display car. It races.
The failures are real. The repairs are real. The learning is real.
Keeping it competing means Amy continues learning, building and gaining the experiences that become part of Built By Girl – The Power of Possibility.
And when the Built By Girl car is undergoing repairs or development and can't make a school appearance, Mark's own Proworx race car can step in as the backup.
WHERE IT ALL STARTED.
Mark is also the reason Amy found herself on a racetrack in the first place.
His encouragement gave her the opportunity to try something completely outside her comfort zone. What began with learning to race became a much bigger journey of learning to build, repair, problem-solve and trust herself.
In many ways, Amy rebuilt more than a race car. She rebuilt herself.
That journey became Built By Girl.
And today, Mark continues to stand behind it — sharing his knowledge, providing guidance and giving Amy the space to learn by doing.
